COURSE DESCRIPTION
Is it a challenge for to have a difficult conversation with someone at work or have difficulty talking about sensitive issues with family members? If you’re like most of us, you have to deal with difficult issues and difficult people all the time. And few of us practice these conversations or have the tools to become better at them. This workshop helps participants overcome the challenges that accompany awkward, uncomfortable and sometimes hostile conversations in the workplace. These conversations occur daily, between colleagues, among teams and with customers. Managing strong emotion and lowering your anxiety while holding a difficult conversation appropriately and effectively is a skill that everyone should master.
Fortunately, the skills for conducting difficult conversations can be learned. In this workshop we will explore a number of different work situations, provide advice for conducting difficult conversations, and give participants the opportunity to practice these crucial skills.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Understand what makes certain conversations so difficult, and how to avoid the common mistakes that even the most experienced professionals make
- Learn a step-by-step method for handling difficult conversations with less anxiety and more success

- Understanding why some conversations turn “difficult” and what to do when they do
