Mark Staffing Solutions 7th Annual Client Appreciation
Breakfast
Location: Calgary - The Fairmont Palliser, Crystal
Ballroom, September 26, 2007.
Guest Speaker: Catriona LeMay Doan - "Personal Excellence
– Achieving Your Full Potential"

At the age of 9, Catriona, attended her first Nationals held in
Regina. This competition became the start of a long string of
medals and record breaking performances for this eager young
athlete. When Catriona turned 17 she was granted a spot on the
National Speed Skating Team. Her first Olympic experience was in
1992 in Albertville, France. In 1994 at the Lillehammer Olympic
Games, she entered onto the world stage ranked 5th in the world
at the 500m race.
In 1995 Catriona claimed the World Cup and was named the
“fastest woman on ice”.
In 1998 at the Nagano Winter Olympics, Catriona won the Gold for
Canada in her 2nd race of the 500m competition. She also took
home the Bronze medal for Canada in the 1000m race. She was
honored to carry our flag at the closing ceremonies.
As a follow up to her success in Nagano, Catriona proudly
carried the flag into the opening ceremonies of the Salt Lake
City Olympic Games. Catriona was able to hold onto her title and
once again win Gold. She became the first Canadian ever to win
back to back medals in the same sport.
Catriona
now resides in Calgary with her husband Bart and their two
children. She is actively involved in our community and charity
associations including the Saskatoon Foundation Catriona LeMay
Doan Endowment for Children and Youth. She is the spokesperson
for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada,
Right to Play and World Vision. Catriona was also part of the
organizing committee for the Vancouver bid to host the 2010
games and will be covering these Olympics games as a member of
the CBC Broadcast team.
Mark Staffing would like to extend its warmest appreciation to
Catriona for her entertaining and endearing inspirational
speech.
